Your Replit app works until real users and real data arrive. Here's what to do.

Replit apps that struggle after launch usually share three problems: secrets that aren't handled consistently, a database whose structure was changed by hand or by the agent with no migration history, and no clear way to run the app anywhere except Replit. Replit Agent can build, run and host an app in one workspace, which is why it gets a founder to a live product so quickly. The same convenience makes it easy to skip what a production system needs: separate environments, tested backups and a record of every schema change. All of it can be put right without starting again. Shreesoftic finds the gaps in a two-day triage for $349 and fixes them at a fixed price.
Test and live data, before and afterSample, illustrative

Sample before and after: test and live sharing one database, illustrative

Before

  1. Test run
  2. One shared database
  3. Live customers
  4. A test can change real data

After

  1. Test run
  2. Separate databases, recorded migrations
  3. Live customers
  4. Tests never touch real data

Is this happening in your Replit app?

  • You aren't sure which secrets the live app uses, or whether development shares them
  • A database change broke live data, and there's no migration to reverse it
  • Test records and real customer records sit in the same database
  • The agent fixed one bug and quietly changed a table structure to do it
  • Hosting costs or usage limits have become a worry, and you don't know what moving would involve
  • Nobody has ever run the code outside the Replit workspace

Why do Replit apps get stuck at the production stage?

Replit puts the editor, the runtime, the database and the hosting in one place, and Replit Agent can work across all of them from a prompt. For a first version, removing that setup is the whole point. The trade-off is that the boundaries a production system relies on aren't drawn for you. Development and production can end up sharing one database. Secrets get added in the workspace as they're needed, sometimes copied into code or config as well, with no single list of what exists and where it is used.

Databases are where this bites hardest. When the agent needs a new column, it can change the schema directly. That works on the day, but there is no migration file to replay, review or roll back, so the structure of the live database is recorded only in the database itself. Later, when costs, limits or a customer's requirements make you want to host elsewhere, nobody can say with confidence what the app depends on. That is not Replit doing something wrong. It is what a build-and-host-in-one tool is for, and the next stage needs different habits.

How do we make a Replit app production-ready?

  1. Two-day triage ($349, two working days): a senior engineer reads the code, the secrets configuration and the database, and returns the five risks that matter most, an indicative range for fixing them, and a fix-or-rebuild recommendation.
  2. Stabilisation (from $2,500, one to two weeks) or production hardening (from $6,000, three to five weeks): one managed set of secrets per environment, development and production separated, the live schema captured as migrations, backups that have actually been restored, tests around sign-up and payments, error tracking and a rollback path.
  3. When costs or limits make it the right call, we migrate the app to a standard repository, hosting and database you control, without a rebuild. It is scoped and priced from the triage, or from the Production Readiness Audit ($1,500, five working days) if you want a fixed quote first.
  4. Optional managed AI engineering from $1,500 a month, three-month minimum, so the app stays healthy wherever it runs.

What founders ask about fixing Replit apps

Do I have to leave Replit?

No. Plenty of apps are fine staying once secrets, environments and migrations are in order. We recommend moving only when cost, limits or a customer requirement makes it worth doing, and the triage says which applies to you.

Will moving off Replit mean rewriting the app?

Usually not. The code Replit Agent writes runs on standard runtimes. The work is in untangling the platform-specific pieces: how secrets are loaded, how the database is reached, and how the app is started and deployed.

Can you recover a database the agent changed without a migration?

We capture its current structure as a baseline migration, so every change from then on is recorded and reversible. Whether lost data can come back depends on what backups exist, which the triage checks.

Is it safe to give you access to the workspace?

We ask for the narrowest access that lets us read the code and configuration, under named accounts. NDA on request, nothing reused or trained on, and access is revoked at handover.

What does it cost after the triage?

Stabilisation starts from $2,500 and full hardening from $6,000. Half the triage fee is credited against a sprint that starts within 30 days.
